Real Help Is Here.

It’s time you talk to someone who understands what you’re up against.

Out of curiosity… How many traditional therapists did you contact before landing here? What percentage responded to you? Of those, how often were you told “I can’t help you“?

Your life changes, fast. Between the common stressors of each day, to the unpredictability you encounter every shift or deployment – all of which are scrutinized by a country that loudly practices its right to free speech – you need someone who gets where you’re coming from now more than ever. In times like these, who helps you, the people who work around the clock to defend and provide emergency services in communities across America? An individual deserving of the opportunity to express themselves and seek support in an authentic, trustworthy, and confidential space?

It’s someone like me, a competent, educated, licensed professional who knows the lifestyle and unique challenges you face. I offer that unicorn blend of expertise and cultural competency as an OIF veteran’s wife, former prison mental health professional, and friend to many in emergency services and military professions.

Here’s how else I level up: I won’t censor you or have a dramatic reaction to your stories. You’re not going to offend me. I respect where you’ve been and empathize with your internal battles as you see them, not as other people say you should experience your own life and circumstances. You’ll feel my passion as someone who is fully committed to helping the ones who answered the call.

Meet The Therapist

Hi! I’m Beth Salmo, M.S., LPC-MO, LCPC-IL, NCC, CEAP. I’m the owner and therapist behind Thin Line Counseling Services, LLC.

St. Louis born and raised, I currently reside in the area and see clients all over Missouri and Illinois in my virtual practice. Locally, I also conduct Walk & Talk sessions and see some clients out of my office. I approach therapy with authenticity, compassion, skill, and humor.

My desire to help stems from personal relationships with many people who work in law enforcement, the military, fire, EMS/medical professions, communications, and corrections. Areas of focus are in treating traumatic stress, anxiety/panic, insomnia, depressed mood, crisis, anger, grief/loss/bereavement, relationships, and workplace concerns.

I love animals, aviation, strength training, and tacos (not necessarily in that order). Check out my full bio and a podcast appearance under the “About” tab, then drop down to “About Beth”. I have a recorded interview about resilience below as well.

My Treatment Focus

I’m committed to helping you process the reality of stress and trauma, nurture relationships, make healthy choices, and sit with the really tough stuff no one told you about. I achieve this by providing a supportive environment; using evidence-based strategies and continuing education to help you recognize and recover from adversity; and by customizing a treatment plan to you as an individual. You are more than what you do, and your needs are important to me.

Confidentiality
in Telehealth

At Thin Line Counseling Services, LLC, I take your privacy very seriously. I will not share your personal medical information without your written consent or in rare circumstances of immediate safety concerns, which will be discussed at the beginning of your first and subsequent appointments. Additionally, I am Board-certified by NBCC as a National Certified Counselor, which requires rigorous testing, credentialing, and continuing education requirements. Making the decision to see a therapist can seem more intimidating than anything you face on the front lines, and I hope you’ll find that participating in telehealth via a secure site in the comfort of your own space helps ease your concerns. Please call or email if you have questions – these communications will also be kept confidential.

Who I Serve & Inclusivity

I value and honor diversity and equity in my work. I believe that embracing and celebrating differences fosters a healthy human experience. As such, I’m  committed to creating an environment where clients feel valued and respected, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, or disability.

I specialize in helping first responders, service members and veterans, healthcare providers, their families, and others who protect, defend, and serve their communities. While these professionals can be impacted by the stress experienced in their careers, my ethical compass points to inclusivity. I help people in all occupations. If you are a human being, and you are struggling, I am happy to work with you to formulate a plan to get you where you want to be.

Expertise in Working with Military-Connected Individuals

I’m a Star Behavioral Health Provider through the Uniformed Services University Center for Deployment Psychology and Purdue. What this means is that I have met competencies to work specifically with active duty service members as well as veterans and their families. I’m also on registries meant specifically to help service members find specialized counseling.

I regularly engage in ongoing continuing education in my field in general, as well as in the specialty areas of first responder and military professional care. I accept TRICARE East (Select and Prime) as a commitment to serving you. It’s the least I can do to provide you access to what you need.

My Promise Is Straightforward

I promise to be there for you every step of your journey. My goal is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, celebrate your victories, and empower you to live the life you’ve been hoping for.
